There are a multitude of business news websites and journals in America. Many of these use the same sources for their articles, even reposting the same information several times. This makes it harder to find relevant information amongst the reprints of the same story. For any reader interested in business news, quality and quantity matter. There are three main areas that any reader should look for in a business journal, helping to make it the best possible source for your life.
Information
Anyone looking for business news wants the most information available. They want details beyond just a press release or a conference call. They want the full story. They want the information to be the best on the market. If every company is using the same media outlet for their information, every website is only telling the same narrative.
A quality business journal will have it's own writers working on stories. They will follow up leads and track down stories. They will look beyond the information presented and find the real story. They work to provide the full story, be it positive or negative. They provide their reader with the most information and the overwhelming quality they deserve.
Quality
For any business journal, quality should be paramount. They should be able to put out stories that are of the highest quality and content for their readers. The information should be factual, timely and accurate. If a business news journal doesn't meet this criteria, then it cannot be considered the best.
Yes, reporters make errors, and information reported changes as new information comes to light. There is a difference between being accurate, and issuing revisions for past articles constantly. A quality journal will admit their mistakes, and make the appropriate changes to existing content. They will release new stories with new information when it becomes available. They will do what it takes to provide their readers consistent quality.
If a journal has several mistakes, poor layouts, or the same stories as other sites, then it fails to truly capture the quality of other information sources. Quality is important when it comes to the reader. There is a reason the biggest business news sites are so big and successful. They strive to provide quality and reliability in their reporting, day in and day out.
Reliability
For any media organization, reliability is extremely important to their business. They need to present their information in the similar manner that the reader has come to expect. They must publish stories at regular intervals, and use the same format for each story. Variations to this model happen, as the market shifts. However, if a company is all over the place, with different schedules, formats, and tones, it breaks the reliability pact.
People are drawn to a site for a particular reason. If that reason stops existing, the reader finds another site that matches their expectations. The major business news sites understand this and make their media the same throughout the site.
These three keys are necessary for a site to be the best business journal.

Managed File Transfer Should Be The Industry Norm To Minimise Business Risks
FTP alone as a way of simply moving data from one place to another in a company has served its purpose in its day but really its time is up. In modern times, it's not enough simply to send and receive files between storage, server, user or data manipulator without some form of security and visibility. The failings of FTP are listed as vulnerability to file corruption, data-loss and clumsiness which accompanies the manual command to send or receive files rather than system automation. It's impossible to know exactly what state the data's in, where it is or really control who has access to it. FTP cannot effectively limit file access or offer security whereas managed file transfer offers strict permission-based control keeping things really tight and as it should be.
All the failings of FTP mean that it is past its sell-by date and it's time to move over for managed file transfer.
Organisations are becoming more complex, there is also more pressure to automate processes for reliability, cost savings and security and the IT lines between companies and their suppliers, clients and other stake-holders becoming blurred. This being the case, the need for managed file transfer as a norm has come to the fore and it's here to stay.
No matter which corporate function is looked at, data transfer is taking place within and between that department and others. Managed file transfer enables complete control and visibility of file transfer from one place to another, with a simple centralised administration tool.
Whatever the architecture or operating system, managed file transfer is important and can be applied. In fact, the dove-tailing of different systems with in different locations and in different formats is exactly the sort of scenario that gives rise to the obvious need for file transfer to be as reliable, visible and safe as possible.
Automating file transfer between points is an obvious advantage as it not only reduces the need for a manual instruction but can factor in reliability as a result. Commands can be recorded and every aspect of the movement of the data is logged and reported. This is a 24/7 and 365 days a year feature which makes system operation full-time and continuous without the constraint of the working day or time-zones.
Plain old FTP offers very little in the way of an audit trail. Growing pressures mean that data handling and tracking require compliance to standards of measurement and control are met by managing the transfer of files. Internal and external checks can be easily carried out when file transfer is controlled as opposed to standard FTP.
Looking at the bigger picture, with privacy laws seeming to gain in clout, organisations with certain leanings or heritage becoming the target of disenchanted activists and the penalties for data security breaches on the rise, data security including managed file transfer is becoming more and more important - and not just to the IT department. Operations need complete reliance on the efficacy and productivity of their systems, legal departments need to make sure risks are minimised and the marketing department - not to mention share-holders - will want to avoid the bad publicity associated with slack practice at all cost.

Surviving 2012: Six Things Every Business Can Learn from the Surveying Industry
As a professional land surveyor for 40 years, I have a first-hand understanding of the housing downturn and subsequent economic recession we have been experiencing for the past six years.
At our firm, we began seeing the impact in early 2008, just one year after the peak in our business in 2007. Surveying is often viewed (at least by banks) as part of the construction industry and when construction loans dried-up, so did our business.
For surveyors, the hit was especially hard because our industry doesn't just rely on the housing market, but also on commercial and retail expansion, which depends on the public sector to build infrastructure like new roads, sewer outfalls, parks, schools, airport expansions and industrial parks.
When things got bad, many surveyors began discounting their services in an attempt to hold onto their clients and market share. Over the past three years, for example, I have seen the fee and value of ALTA surveys - surveys required by banks before they will refinance a loan - sell for half of what they did before the fall.
The irony is that as the economy slowed, interest rates began to fall and investors, shopping centers and businesses began to refinance their properties. The need for ALTA surveys actually grew as a result! It was only a matter of months before attorneys representing banks began calling our firms asking for "ALTA updates," implying something other than a new survey.
The firms of the future will be smaller with fewer permanent staff. Fees will change. It will no longer be just about how many crews you have, but how smart you are at collecting and selling 3D data. And those firms that can find ways to use existing sources of 3D data will be even better equipped to weather the storm.
For survey firms - as is true for all industries in this economy - the way to survive is to simply be a better businessperson. Here are six important things every business can learn from the surveying industry:
#1: Control your price. There are only two ways to control your prices: have a healthy backlog of profitable work and provide valuable services to your clients.
#2: Utilize subcontractors. Have a permanent staff large enough to process the workflow and provide quality control, but maintain relationships with good subcontractors and associate firms to expand your workforce when you have a wave a work that your permanent staff can't handle.
#3: Make profit your goal - not billing. Just because you bill a crew out at $1,000 doesn't mean you make $1,000. Your actual profits are typically closer to $150.
#4: Don't buy - rent, swap and borrow. If you can rent a piece of equipment for $500 and make $150, you have greatly reduced your cash flow and improved your profit margin. Take a look at all of the expensive equipment you have purchased and must pay for every day. Unused equipment sitting on the shelf is not a good investment. Swap with other firms when you can, rent when you have to, and buy when the workload demands it.
#5: Always have a contract. Make the signing of a contract the starting point for every job. Even with an established client, having a signed contract can save a lot of scope creep and misunderstanding even on the simplest jobs.
#6: Don't cut your price without changing the scope. Many lawyers have called to tell me that my price is too high. I remind them that it's less than their price and they don't even have to leave the office!
Lastly and most importantly, be realistic. If your workload goes down, you must cut your overhead immediately. For most of us, this means staff, which is always the hardest thing to do.
At one point, we had to reduce our employees from a high of 45 to just seven. We have since slowly built back up, but it was this reduction in staff, combined with tight cash management and a realistic outlook, that enabled us to survive.
The key to surviving this economy - for land surveying firms, as well as all business - is to be realistic, creative and adaptable. This is what it will take to survive and grow into better times.

The Gateway to Mt Pleasant - Bridgeside
From an article in this week's Moultrie News, we learn that the Mt. Pleasant Town Council will soon be taking up discussion of a 46 acre project named Bridgeside. This proposed new development will be on the largest undeveloped waterfront property in Mt. Pleasant. It lies to the east of the Ravenel Bridge.
The property has become a natural bird habitat and home to many animals. Migratory birds also make use of this land. That presents a challenge for the developer to build in such a way as to protect the environment to the extent possible, while bring in new visitors to Patriot's Point and the Memorial Park. Front Door Communities will oversee the proposed development and has committed to building "a green, sustainable community that enhances the wetlands for migratory birds." Of the 42 acres in the tract, 3 acres will be developed as the plan is currently drawn.
The developers are also exploring building designs and construction techniques that are energy efficient and reduce the potential for bird strikes. These designs would eliminate the use of reflective glass along the waterfront. Their building and landscaping choices can have a positive impact to sustain the migration of the song birds that already use this space. Front Door Communities has hired a consultant to help incorporate a migratory bird sanctuary and establish guidelines for buildings that are bird friendly.
Bridgeside will be a live, work, play concept and serve, from the developer's point of view, as the waterfront gateway to Mt. Pleasant, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Front Door is giving consideration to the public access to the waterfront. Plans call for an amphitheater with a tiered lawn leading down to the harbor. A waterfront boardwalk will connect the Patriot's Point nature trial to Memorial Park under the Ravenel Bridge. Indoor and outdoor dining, retail shopping will provide a vibrant community that will draw visitors from around the Lowcounty to Bridgestone, Patriot's Point and the Memorial Park. All of this is based on a five year buildout according to Front Door Communities.
This is an ambitious undertaking and the plans for the development seem to have taken much into consideration, migratory birds, green spaces, building designs that are safer for birds and better for the environment. In creasing traffic to the Mt. Pleasant waterfront, including Patriot's Point and Memorial Park will bring in additional needed revenues and maybe some congestion. Developments change their direction over time. We can only hope that the final plan keeps the original intent intact!

Cold Calling Fun, Are You Serious?
When my business partner who also happens to be my husband suggested that I learn to do cold calling to become an expert in our home business, I can still remember the exact spot where I was standing in our kitchen; nor can I forget the feeling that gripped my insides.
Quite simply put, I was horrified at the prospect of talking with complete strangers about my business. The thought conjured up all of the stereotypes of the worst kind of salesman that I could think of; remember Jack Lemmon in the movie, "Glengarry Glen Rose"? Or the Arthur Miller character of Willy Lomax in "Death of a Salesman"?
If you remember these characters then you get the picture...
If you don't, think of the most aggressive and desperate car salesman you have ever met and you have the image.
It has been almost five years since that kitchen conversation and one of the things I love most about our business is talking with new potential customers.
If the telephone still seems to weigh 400 pounds when you pick it up to call prospects or if you cannot seem to talk with a waitress who seems particularly sharp about your business because the words seem to stick in your throat, read on. There are three essentials to learning how to love cold calling: support, lots of it; feedback, lots of it; and leads, lots of them.
Let's begin with the support part. Support is imperative because when we begin to talk with strangers about our business, we will not do well at first.
Trust me on this one. Here's an example; in the beginning, I used the "300 foot" rule. Translated, that means that anyone who came within 300 feet of me and was breathing was fair game.
There were many times that I had no plan or phrase when I prospected a stranger. Often, my husband and I were in a restaurant together when I awkwardly approached the waiter or another customer; I made the classic mistakes of talking, not asking, over, often knowing that I would probably never follow up with this person. But my business partner (husband) never made fun of me or gave me "constructive feedback".
He knew how far outside my "comfort zone" I had wandered and consistently encouraged me to continue taking the risk of talking to strangers about my business. He called it practice and told me that I was learning.
So you know what happened? I got better.
The more I did this, the more comfortable I felt and therefore acted. There is a reason that Chesterton's advice is often quoted to anyone learning a new skill:
"anything worth doing is worth doing poorly."
When we are learning, we'll most likely act like it. Realize that in yourself and in others and you will start to attract people to you.
Feedback is a tougher issue. Once the newly acquired skill of "cold calling" or prospecting is more-or-less comfortable, we need to see the errors that we are making. This is where "constructive criticism" comes in. This is tough because most of us despise being criticized- I do and so does everyone else I know.
So what can we do? There are several alternatives that may be preferable at least in the beginning. One is using a tape recorder to record live phone conversations; simulated role-plays can be useful as well and scripts may be helpful for some.
But nothing beats someone listening and then giving us immediate and honest feedback.
Nothing - but it is unpleasant for those of us working hard to do the best we can do and that *is* most of us.
The three common pitfalls for many of us are: talking too much, interrupting, and our inability to *really* listen.
This last skill, listening, requires concentration and discipline but is powerful. You know when you are in the mode of active listening when you sense the appreciation of the person you're listening to for they are almost always surprised and grateful to hear their thoughts and concerns return to them. We can change our style and learn to listen but it requires focus and work.
An unlimited supply of leads is the last requirement for learning to love cold calling. Most of us really believe we only know 5 people to talk to about our business and when pressed we may be able to list 30.
So what do we do when we reach the end of the list and we have no money to buy leads?
And for many of us, the idea of approaching friends and family, makes our insides crawl. But an insufficient supply of interested prospects is one of the most common causes for failure in network marketing.
Let's think a moment about why it is so important to have more people to call than you have time to dial.
It isn't complicated, is it? The more detached we can be from the decision of each person we talk with the more confidence we feel and stimulate in those we talk with.
That Jack Lemmon stereotype of the aggressive, desperate salesman is a character we all look to escape, fast.
Where are the sources for unlimited leads? They range from the PTA and other clubs you can join to the 10-20,000 new folks going on the Internet each day in hopes of finding a way to change their lives. There are more and more companies to selling names of prospects for relatively little money on the Internet.
In summary, cold calling is the heart and soul of any business because all of us reach the end of our contact list sooner or later.
The three essentials for learning to love talking to strangers are:
support, feedback, and an unlimited supply of people to talk with about the business.
Happy prospecting!

The Close
I bet we talk with 2000 to 6000 customers per month in our business. And the most common question we get asked, bar none, is "what per cent of these leads will I close"? In the beginning, I used to recite the industry averages. You know them well.
Or if you are determined to succeed at your business, you will get to know them well. If you dial 100 numbers, you'll reach 30 people. Of those 30 persons, between 10 and15 will listen to a presentation; of those 10-15, 1-5 will join the business. Of the 10 that join, 1 will work it.
Then I realized that my answer was of little to no help to the people asking that question. Now I suggest that they make their first calls with their upline or with one of us. So I evade the answer to that question... always.
Why?
Because after working with hundreds of recruits in 3 different businesses, I learned that most people cannot close. And I think there are 3 very simple answers to why that is a fact.
And it is a fact.
The average network marketer recruits 2 to 3 people (often family members recruited by their upline). And when they quit they do it because are not making the money they expected to make or they are spending too much money or...
But in reality, most never start.
It doesn't have to be this way. But here are the 3 reasons why it is:
1) We overcomplicate the whole process 2)We think we're not selling 3)Because we think we don't sell, we don't learn how
Let's start with the process. Joining my first company was a familiar and very comfortable process for me... It felt as if I were back in school. Immediately I bought all the training materials: lots of books, audiotapes and videotapes.
I used all the techniques that my upline suggested and generally "went by the book(s)".And I taught everyone else to do exactly what I did. But no one recriuited more than 2-3 people. Most recruited no one.
No experience is wasted but those first two years make me sad for only one reason. I recruited many people who could have made a little- or a lot- of money doing the business had I not made it so complicated.
So if it doesn't need to be this complicated, what should we do?
We realize that we **are** selling! And we decide to get good, really good at looking for and listening to people who will fit with our business..... (otherwise known as selling).
When I joined my first network marketing company over 6 years ago, I was told this was not selling. Worse yet, I taught everyone I recruited that it was not sales......we were all "professionals" and somehow "above" sales.
Once I figured out that sales was nothing like what I thought it was I began to close even more folks with a lot less work. But it was too late for the downline that I had taught to rely on me.
These are some very practical tips that have been extremely useful for me.
*The fact that objections mean a high level of interest *The spoken objections are not the real ones, *Most people need the decision made for them.
If a prospect is not interested they will not expend the time or the energy to put up objections.. Many of us fear the objections and believe that our explanation to each objection is important-critically important. Not so.
It took me many useless verbal rabbit trails to learn the wisdom of asking this question before I answered **any** of the spoken objections:
"Ms. Prospect, if we are able to agree that company xyz is not a pyramid scheme and that your understanding of sales can be changed to a process that you would consider fun, are there any other factors keeping you from making this decision?"
Always, out it would come...."my husband", "other people's opinions" etc. When I remembered to use this question, there was never any need to discuss all the others put out there to confuse both the prospect and me.
The third and maybe most critical step is this one:
People will not close themselves.
**We** must learn to ask for the close. How do you do it?
By asking.
Once you begin you will be amazed at how many folks will quite amicably provide the information that you need for your enrollment process. "Ms Prospect, we've discussed your interest in XY and Z. And, Ms Prospect, we've discussed the low risk nature of this decision.(this is NOT a big deal, right?)
Now let's see Ms Prospect, How do you spell your first name? Even if you know how to spell her name, ask her to spell it for you, it will relieve her anxiety because she is in control.. This part is critical. Stay focused......
The worst case? They say "no, I need to know this or that" or "no I don't think this is right for me". But in either case you win because you have saved yourself time.
In summary, decide today to
simplify your process, study sales techniques and do a trial close on your very next prospect.
Happy prospecting!!!

Field Coaching Visits and The Intrusion of Technology
Technology has changed the face of communication on a global scale. At the beginning of the last century it might have taken months for news to travel from one end of the world to the other. Now it takes a split second. Many people even find it necessary to update everyone else - not just friends - on every single aspect of their lives, as it happens, on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter and via text. It has become an obsession to be in touch - instantly.
The same practice of being in touch has had a dramatic effect on the world of business. Sites such as LinkedIn absorb more and more personal information, with the appetite for disclosure seemingly voracious.
When I am running management training workshops, one of the most difficult things I have to cope with, is the constant distraction of attendees as they insist on receiving and sending texts and emails during the training event, and making and receiving calls at every single break during the day.
And yet the question we should ask ourselves is - 'is it necessary?' And despite your possible protests, the answer is - 'no'.
In regard to field sales coaching sessions, I pose the question -'Will the individual be a more effective, better-motivated, and more professional salesperson as a result of the time invested with me'? This leads me to the conclusion that the sole purpose of field sales coaching is to improve sales performance in the short term, and ensure continuous improvement in the long term. This conclusion is supported by a 2006 benchmarking exercise conducted by the Chally Group where it was reported that -'the most important skill is that of the sales manager who coaches and develops the salesperson. Salespeople who get at least one half day a week, one to one, with their managers are twice as productive as other salespeople'.
Returning the problems I have with managers especially turning off their laptops, mobile telephones, and Blackberrys during training sessions, when I ask why they are obsessive about the need to be in touch constantly, the usual responses include: 'I need to be able to provide solutions to problems; customers need to speak to me; it's the end of the month and I need to make sure we hit target'; and so on. Then when I ask - 'so what's going to happen to the business if you get hit by a bus'? The reaction is often one of incomprehension that this is something which needs consideration.
The same rules which apply to the sales process - in that it has to be written down and it should be able to be taught to others - apply to the sales management process - it should be written down, and others should be trained in implementing it. Too many managers hang onto elements of their job that could just as effectively be done by someone else, leaving the really important role of coaching their sales teams as the almost exclusive activity they should be engaged in.
Lastly, there are the issues of trust and common manners. Would you trust a manager who says to you that he/ she is focussed only on helping you to improve your performance when they spend most of the day answering and making calls; sending texts; reading emails?
When you are on a field sales coaching visit, switch your phone/ laptop/ blackberry off. There is never anything that is important enough to distract you from concentrating 100% on the salesperson you are with, and the customers you are both meeting. It is the height of bad manners to be communicating with other people whilst you are on a field sales coaching visit with one of your salespeople. If you can come up with a reason why you need to keep your phone, iPad, Blackberry or whatever else switched on - then you are wrong. There is no reason other than you may be extremely badly organised.
Have you managed to get to the end of this text without making or receiving a call?

Tim Hortons Franchise
In a High Volume - High Margin business, there are online versus bricks and mortar business opportunities. Let us consider a Tim Hortons franchise as an example of the latter.
What is the cost to open up a Tim Hortons franchise?
(figures are in USD)
$340,000 to $511,097 for equipment cost
$2,400 to $38,000 for real property cost
$35,000 franchise fee
$47,000 to $85,400 pre-opening expenses
The franchise package for a standard restaurant where the franchisee leases the premises from Tim Hortons requires $159,500 to $296,900 (USD) unencumbered capital in the form of cash or liquid assets, with the rest eligible for loan financing. There may be royalty and advertising fees involved as well. Throw in legal fees, business registration and licensing fees, although these amounts will be small in comparison to the fees to Tim Hortons.
Depending on the size of the restaurant, the number of employees may range from 25 to 30 to operate the restaurant 24/7. These need to be hired and managed on an ongoing basis. Tim Hortons does not allow absentee ownership of a franchise; the owner will need to be involved in the operation and management of the restaurant.
A cup of coffee can be produced for $0.05 to $0.10 per cup. Sell it for $1.00 a cup. Even if another $0.20 per cup is added for expenses such as labor, that still leaves a very profitable 70% gross profit margin. Gross profit margin announcements of 60% by public coffee sales companies is a realistic goal for a Tim Hortons franchise. The net profit margin is probably in the 20% to 30% range depending on various factors.
A McDonald's average net profit is around 10% depending on whose statistics are cited. The food business does not yield margins as high as in the coffee sales business. A mom-and-pop shop would be better off selling only coffee without food items to dilute the profit margin.
A Tim Hortons franchise business is relatively low risk so the upfront capital is safe but one needs that capital to start. The good news is that sales will be ringing in right at the start. The bad news is, so will the expenses. Contrast this with a high-margin online venture such as an advertising revenue website.
If the coffee business is not your "cup of tea", there are other options but not many bricks and mortar businesses will yield better profit margins. There are many franchise business opportunities in the online world as well as bricks and mortar operations. Do your research to find the ones that satisfy your interest, experience and suitability.

Fisker Karma Moves in the Right Direction
Many bloggers who write about environmental issues have written a Fisker review about Karma. Personal opinion does not quite hold the weight of the EPA. It is widely known that car companies can, and often do, exaggerate their fuel estimates somewhat. Their marketers do the research and put out what people are likely to want to hear. However, the official EPA numbers often temper the marketers' exuberance. When the EPA tested the Karma, the results showed the marketers' hype. However, the Karma still offers encouragement in greening the luxury car manufacturing business.
The Karma had received a great deal of media attention when people heard that the car could go 50 miles on a single electric charge. The claim that the hybrid engine could get almost the same 50 miles per gallon was impressive. The EPA test results showed an average of 32 miles on an electric charge and 20 miles per gallon for the hybrid engine. When combined into an mpg-equivalent, the total was a 52 MPGe rating. While other electric and hybrid cars exceed this rating, it is important to note that this is a significant step up for fuel efficiency in the luxury car domain.
Some people may take comfort in knowing that the EPA has historically deflated expectations. For example, in 2009 when news of the long awaited Chevy Volt started showing up in online car forums, GM suggested their bright electric star might possibly get 230 MPGe. However, after the EPA got through with their tests, they found the Volt achieved an average of 35 miles on a single charge and around 90 MPGe. This is not so different from the Fisker Karma, except that the Fisker is designed to punch out a lot more power and to offer a very comfortable ride.
Fox News took the EPA's findings to denigrate the Fisker's fuel economy. However, when its 52 MPGe is compared to most other cars on the road, the savvy listener will realize that's pretty darn good fuel economy for a luxury vehicle. Fisker CEO, Henrik Fisker, pointed out that the EPA's test is not conclusive. It is simply an average of the driving habits of many. Improved fuel efficiency can be achieved through good driving habits on the average road. In any case, the EPA estimates bring the Karma very close to the 54.5 mpg average that auto makers will aim to reach by 2025. The Karma is one step closer to a new luxury car paradigm.

Detroit Motorshow News
The all new Ford Mondeo was unveiled at the Detroit motor show. Packed full of the latest technological advances, the super stylish popular family hatch now has an engine range known as Ecoboost which emits lower CO2 emissions making it kinder to our environment. Boasting a high fuel economy it's also nicer to your bank balance! All of this is achievable without a loss in the vehicle's performance. The Mondeo is due to be launched here in the UK in March 2013.
A hybrid Mondeo model is the next thing to watch out for on your local dealership forecourt. The larger car from the Ford family is following the lines of the Focus and Fiesta in Ford's new world car strategy. This world car strategy has been implemented to design and make all the cars the same throughout the world. In doing so it will reduce the overall cost of production and provides allowances for technology sharing. Due out late 2012 the relaunch of the next model from Ford's world car collection is the SUV model known as the Kuga.
German based BMW are all set to launch a new Mini, in a Roadster style format. The ever increasingly popular Mini has been one of the most successful relaunches of a car model. New lines and styles have been added frequently to meet the ever growing demand for ownership of this quirky car and in order to keep it looking modern and desirable. It is most likely that the Roadster will follow suit in adding to the Mini's astonishing success. More boot space has been created by removing the rear seats and its manual fabric roof has been carefully constructed in order to reduce any unnecessary weight. With the price of the vehicle looking to be less than £20,000, it is likely that we will see a fair few of these on our roads before long with purchasers queuing to place their orders. A John Cooper Works version of the roadster is set to accompany the range shortly after the launch, this features a 1.6 turbo charged engine with 208 BHP complete with painted black 18" alloy wheels, guaranteed to turn heads with a set of premium car tyres fitted.
The Detroit Motor show is the North American International Autoshow. It features press, charity and industry previews before being open to the general public for viewing. With over 500 vehicles there is something to suit every drivers needs, wants and desires.
Buy cheap car tyres online from the UK's friendliest tyre company!

Running a Mobile Car Wash in Birmingham Alabama
Birmingham is a great city for the mobile auto detailing and car wash business. Also, lots of fleet trucks to clean as it is on the I-20 and in fact, there are many freeways and major highways which intersect in Birmingham. It's a college town, distribution hub, and the largest city in the state, with a large population. Although the city itself has some financial challenges for its budget issues the business community is doing fine there.
The economic development association has convinced foreign companies to build factories. This has provided a solid employment base, and an ever emerging middle class. Even those folks in the lower class tend to drive nicer cars, and have decent credit because of their employment, and they love to keep their cars cleaned. Since Birmingham Alabama is such a large city with good labor, and college kids looking for work, it's easy to run a professional mobile detailing business in the city.
Of course, because it is such a large distribution area, I would also recommend the cleaning of fleets of vehicles; delivery companies, trucking companies, and other service vehicles. There are all sorts of utility companies which have large fleets of vehicles, along with Rent-A-Car companies, and government vehicles. There are some challenges during certain times of the day due to traffic, but since there is so much business it is possible to schedule your routes in a tight proximity, allowing you to work in a specific area without moving around a lot or wasting time driving. This also saves on fuel costs.
One thing we really appreciated in Birmingham Alabama was the reality that many of the folks who would answer the ads to become a car washer or detailer on one of our crews, also came with at least some experience. Some of them had worked at car washes before, others had worked in a detail shop, and at minimum they had clean their own car, and knew a lot about washing and waxing. And they could talk your ear off about NASCAR, they are totally into it.
Perhaps the biggest benefit is the college labor, clean-cut kids who are willing to work hard, albeit on a shortened work schedule during the week. The hospitality and friendliness of the city is not common to other areas of this country, and that makes it even more enjoyable to do business there. If you are considering running a mobile auto services business in Alabama, you'd be wise to look at Birmingham, it's got a lot going for it. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

DMCM1112 - Are Affiliate Marketers Maximising on Social Media?
The big question is whether Affiliates are using social media to maximise their earning potential. There are certainly a number of reasons why they should however, are traditional affiliate marketing techniques still more effective? Social media is a fantastic way to communicate to your potential 'customers' and therefore it must be an effective way to drive traffic to a website and make an affiliate sale. There are now many social media channels that have become very popular, especially within the DMCM1112 group. One of the oldest and still the best forms of social media is the 'blog', although Twitter and Facebook have become increasingly popular. Adding inspirational articles to LInkedIn will certainly get you noticed and clicks on your affiliate links.
YouTube

However, YouTube is a great was for customers to visually view your products and provides brand personality to your brand. Twitter
Great for having a good old moan at your utility providers, stalking celebrities or keeping in touch with the rest of the world, Twitter is now dominating our lives. It's not only a way of instantly getting your message out there, but it also provides a great platform for 2-way communication, firstly with your merchants; watching what they are promoting and keeping in touch or sourcing new ones.
Secondly, your readers and site users will have their own thoughts and experiences they want to share, they might have questions about products or more importantly they might become 'brand advocates'. Re-tweeting and sharing your messages to their followers, they will help to promote you and your site.
Twitter now has over 100m active users on their platform and is generating more buzz than Facebook for the first time. Keeping up with celebrities and generally staying in touch with the world is what many people use Twitter for. However, it is a way of instantly getting your messages out there like the DMCM1112 groups and is a fantastic platform for two way communication. An affiliate can keep up with the merchants to see what the best offers are to promote and they can also tweet out these promotions themselves to drive traffic and make an affiliate sale. Secondly, readers of the tweets are more than likely to have their own thoughts and experiences on Twitter so they may share or 're-tweet' the content. Twitter is a great way to quickly get out your offers and generate some sort of awareness using hashtags and key phrases

How to Protect Your Online Reputation: Best Practices, Tools and Strategies
The days of leading a secret private life out of the public eye went out of style when the use of the Internet became the norm for gathering pertinent information about people or companies. Your digital footprint goes before you, and for that reason, it's more important than ever to be on guard 24/7 because everything you do or say can have either a positive or a negative effect on your online reputation. However, even by diligently trying to maintain a positive reputation, no one is immune to what other people might say or write that can affect your online image. In this day and age, your online reputation is taken into account when it comes to searching for a job, seeking business partners or associates or promoting a product, brand or company. In fact, the latest studies show that when showing up for a business interview, there is a 78% chance that the person sitting across from you has already checked out your business and personal reputation online by simply entering your name into a search engine. HR professionals, recruiters, insurance companies and potential business partners check personal websites, search engine results and even social media networking sites for instances of your name appearing. If your image online fluctuates, so will the confidence of your company's shareholders, your business partners, employees and of course, your valuable clientele.
Defensively Guarding your Online Reputation
Other than understanding that whatever someone does or says might end up on the Internet and effect your credibility, it is vital to take the first step in protecting yourself by being proactive in relationship to your online reputation. Begin by doing a Google search for your name or company and see what type of listings show up on the first and second pages. Repeat this analysis on a regular basis so that if something negative does pop up, you'll be the first to know. By careful and diligent monitoring of your name online, you can avoid letting other people's comments or events put a smudge on your image. Conversely, by aggressively spreading the positive links connected to your name it is possible to actually strengthen your current image.
Tools to Manage Your Presence Online
After conducting a careful evaluation of where your name or the name of your company or brand stands in a Google search, set up alerts that will notify you of every new instance that your name appears on the Internet. Check each listing and use the good ones to promote yourself or your product by spreading them to multiple sites. Negative mentions require a very careful and sensitive approach that will neutralize them while you take immediate steps to protect your name from damage. While there are online reputation companies that have experience in handling these types of situations, the basic elements of any plan to save a reputation involves getting the faulty or damaging information removed (or at least hidden) from the Internet and, in conjunction, posting positive articles to counter-balance the negative. Intensifying the promotion of your positive online image has the effect of pushing the negative remarks into the background. There are several ways to do this, which include:
• Frequent uploads of quality content regarding you or your product including blog posts, comments on the sites of others in a similar field of business, white papers.
• Attract new visitors to your website or blog through SEO tools such as pertinent key words, links and optimized copy.
• Increase your Internet real estate through the use of social media marketing, press releases and carefully placed articles.
• Tag yourself or your product in photos from professional conventions, important meetings or well-designed advertising.
The Benefits of Positive Publishing
An important concept of overcoming a soiled Internet image is to bury the false or slanted comments with loads of positive content. There are many places on the Internet that you can use to do this, but it takes a high degree of consistency and professional writing to bring about the desired effect. Publish your name, your brand, your client's positive comments, awards, media attention and good product reviews. Take advantage of good words and spread them across the Internet through the use of social media sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Reddit. Make a Facebook page for you, your company or your product and build up a community of friends whom you can engage in discussions regarding positive experiences and share new product information.
Honestly Evaluate Your Online Image
Remember that a credible and trustworthy image requires non-stop maintenance. Spend time critiquing the picture that the Internet paints of you and make sure you're satisfied with it. By putting yourself in the shoes of the outsider you can honestly evaluate and create an online image that will attract reputable and trustworthy business associates.

Passing the Elance Proficiency Test
Each and every one of us want's to earn online and we may have come across various websites that promise us just what we're after. But, most of them are scams and we fall prey to them. Therefore, never believe any website wherein you have to pay in order to secure a job as most of them if not all are complete scams.
Some of the best websites to earn online include Elance, oDesk, Guru and various other freelance sites. However, in order to join Elance you would first need to pass the Elance proficiency test. This test is conducted to ensure that you know the basics of their site as if you don't it would be very easy to fall prey to a scam.
The Elance proficiency test can't be termed as a test as you're provided with links to information related to each question. Basically they're questions based on the escrow services, type of jobs available as well as quite a few questions based on the various forms of memberships available.
Also, you will come across questions that are related to tested skills. Elance offers you the opportunity to test your skills as this proves your superiority in a particular field. Therefore, before you take the test, make time to read about the feature of tested skills on Elance as it won't just help you pass through this test; but, also help you get your first and most important job.
Your profile is another important feature and if at all you're looking forward to passing the Elance test you would need to know about the importance of filling up your profile. This is general knowledge and you may not need to do any research about it.
Another favorite when it comes to test questions are the ones related to the hourly jobs. Elance offers hourly jobs as well, and to keep track of your work, they have a feature called the Tracker. This tracker takes about five pictures randomly throughout the hour and posts them to the work room so that your client can keep an eye on what you're doing. This prevents the tracker from running and billing your client when you're not working on a project.
Finally, comes the most important aspect about getting started on Elance. If at all you want to have a peaceful time on Elance you would need to know about their rules and regulations. Therefore, Elance does have some questions based on their TOS as well.
However, you need not worry about passing the Elance test at all; because, as already mentioned along with every question comes a link to a page with all the information you need. They're not trying to throw you out, rather they're trying to help you get started the right way so not many people do fail this test.

How To Do Marketing On The Internet
How to do marketing on the Internet can be overwhelming, however, many of the problems encountered can be eliminated once a systematic approach is taken. There is a process to successful internet marketing which is as follows:
Create a simple one page website
All you need is a single page to start your internet business. This page should provide the information your visitor is looking for, with only one simple action for them to take, 'sign up'.
Provide a free gift
Providing a free gift enables you to build a list. Once someone signs up for your free gift, their name is added to your list which you can promote to later. A free gift can be an eBook or a report a free newsletter or something else. Make sure it's something of value. This will keep your list interested in any future products you promote to them.
Build a list
List building is where you will make your money online. When people sign up to your list, your job is to nurture a relationship with them. This can be done through auto-responder emails. New internet markers often fail at this point because they try to sell immediately. Sell later, build a relationship first. You build a relationship with your list by giving value, then when you do want to sell a product to them, they'll be more interested.
Promote to that list
Once you have nurtured your list, they've got to know you a little and like you, you can now promote your products to your list.
Just like in any business, there are tools required. In internet marketing you require:
Domain name- This is the web address of your website for example virgin.com To get a domain name you need to go to what's called a registrar like 'Godaddy' and register your domain name. There will be a yearly fee to register your domain name. Go to Godaddy now, type in different names and see if they are available.
Hosting - This is where your website lives if you will, it's your space on the web, just as your house is your space on your street. Hosting your website enables it to become live on the web. There are a number of Web Hosting companies such as Hostgator or Just Host. A monthly fee is charged to host your website.
Auto-responder- An auto-responder is what you use to manage and nurture your list. This will send messages out to your list automatically. There is a monthly fee for this. Aweber is a good auto-responder or you could try Mail Chimp.
Now that you have your tools, you need to choose a niche/market to sell to - Once you've chosen your niche/market, create a website around that niche and promote to your list. A niche could be Property Investment, How To Loose Weight, Dating.
If you don't already have a product to promote, you can go to places like ClickBank, share sale or commission junction to find a product to sell.
All that's left for you to do now is to get started, get your feet wet. Don't worry about making mistakes, everyone makes mistakes when they're staring something new, but the great thing is you will learn from these mistakes.

Capabilities and Benefits of a Proper E-Business Plan
The proper e-business plan can make you or break you. Over the past two decades, the United States saw the shift from a manufacturing-based industrial economy to its service sector. An important part of the service-oriented economy is the use of electronic information, the Internet, and related technologies. Many people see e-business as a major driver of economic growth for the rest of the 21st century. There are many online businesses that have far exceeded retail stores in sales and successes such as:
· Apple's iTunes has surpassed Wal-Mart as the number-one music retailer. Online sales of digital music rose 50 percent in a recent year while sales of CDs fell by 20 percent.
· Customer satisfaction with online retailers has surpassed that of traditional retailers by almost 12 percent, according to the American Consumer Satisfaction Index.
· Amazon.com, one of the oldest Web retailers, has annual sales of around 15 billion dollars. Sales have been rising an average 23 percent at an annual rate
A proper e-business plan is simply following the footsteps of recent successful online businesses. There is nothing complicated or fancy tricks, just hard work and more dedication than anything. Virtually all businesses today have Web sites. They may offer general product information; electronic shopping; and promotions such as games, contests, and online coupons. Type in the firm's interned address, or use a search engine, and the company's home page appears.
E-business offers a wide variety of capabilities and benefits to contemporary business people such as
· Global reach
· Personalization
· Interactivity
· Right-time and integrated marketing
· Cost savings
The growth of e-business has attracted an army of specialized software firms and other service suppliers that offer expertise for firm taking their first steps into making a competitive e-business plan. Well known examples include Accenture, Adobe, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP. While IBM was originally known as a manufacturer of computer hardware, the firm now generates more than half its revenue from global technology services, much of which is Web related. Passive Income Opportunities - Do They Really Exist?
Are you tired of wasting countless hours of your life, not to mention a big chunk of your bank account, on useless "home-based business opportunities" and Internet income schemes? Are you desperate to find a legitimate opportunity to make extra income for you and your family? If you're like many people online today, you're probably wondering whether passive income opportunities really exist on the Internet.
We know how you feel. There are so many sales pages out there, both online and off-line, that promise you the impossible. They make outrageous claims about becoming a millionaire overnight with little or no work by pushing a few buttons or using some secret "state-of-the-art" software tools. It's no wonder that many people are frustrated, tired, and not even sure whether there are legitimate business opportunities on the Internet for the ordinary person.
Nevertheless, many people just like you are making real money online each and every day through a variety of business models. Some make enough to cover their car payments or mortgages, while others have achieved full time incomes. Some are even able to make solid six-figure incomes because they have committed themselves to learning and growing their businesses over the long-term.
As long as you understand that these business opportunities online do take some time and effort, you'll be able to achieve some real progress whether you just want to make an extra 500 bucks a month or want to replace your current job.
Here are some examples of legitimate passive income opportunities online.
Affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, you make money by promoting other people's products. It's really quite simple, and even though this may have more potential than creating your own products from scratch, you can avoid many of the common hassles that most business people have to deal with. This is definitely a legitimate opportunity, and even major companies like Amazon.com have affiliate programs. All you have to do is send traffic to the merchant website through your special affiliate link, and you don't have to make any outrageous claims or false promises about the products.
Content websites. Many people have started successful blogs or websites and made money with advertising. This is another really simple model for you to consider. As long as you pick a niche that is both interesting to you and profitable, you can focus most of your efforts on creating a large content website that will eventually receive lots of traffic from search engines and social media networks. Then you could simply make money with any number of advertising models.
Selling your own products. We mentioned how simple affiliate marketing can be, but there is always greater potential for those who are willing to take on the investment and risk of creating their own products. These can be information products that teach people how to do something in a popular market like health and fitness, self-improvement, pet care, or business and marketing.
We hope you're starting to get an idea of just how many passive income opportunities there are online. This is a personal favorite FEWWWO.COM

Goal Setting - Specific Methods To Increase Your Online Business Success
Goal setting should be a part of every business owner's activities, without fail. Unfortunately, most people don't do it, or don't do it correctly. Could this by why many businesses never see success? It sure does play a part.
One thing I've learned in business and in life, is that goals are essential for accomplishing anything. Written goals, that is. Goals you can see and touch on a piece of paper. Goals that can be seen regularly. It's a well known fact that most successful people use goal setting as a means to their success. Why aren't you doing it?
Goal setting is often placed on the back burner in favor of more pressing tasks - that email, that new webpage, etc. However, this is the wrong approach. Thinking you don't have time for goal setting is just a recipe for failure. Look at it like this...if you don't take a few hours now to set your goals, your business will suffer later and you probably won't see the results for which you're looking.
It's important here to think BIG and BELIEVE. Reading some influential books on the subject is a GREAT start. In my opinion, the following 4 books that are a MUST READ:
The Magic Of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz
The Magic Of Believing by Claude M. Bristol
Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
I've read all of these and they were a great influence in my motivation. Even if you don't accomplish your goals right away, they will make you a happier and more fulfilled person.
How do you make time and set goals? Here is my approach.
First, goal setting should be fun. It's always fun to daydream about what you want, visualizing what you want as being true now.
Start with the big picture and work your way down to the smallest tasks needed. When I say big picture, I'm talking years down the road. Let's start with a 5 year goal. Where do you want your business to be in 5 years? How much income will you be making, gross, net? What kind of lifestyle will you have when you reach that goal? What reward will you give yourself when you reach that goal? A new car? A big vacation?
Next, break the bigger goals down into sections. If you want to be making $200K in five years, how many products would you have to sell at a certain price to reach that goal? How many affiliate programs will you belong to? How much, on average, will you be making from each? Etc. etc. Keep going with your thought process and be specific.
Now, let's break it down by year. If you want to make $200K in 5 years, and want a growth rate of 50% per year, what would be my 1st year income? 2nd year? Etc.
Now, let's break it down even further. In your first year, you now have a dollar figure. What do you need to accomplish to meet that goal? How many products? How many websites? How many employees? How many visitors to your websites? Etc.
Now that you have your first year goal, you can break this down into monthly goals. Next, go to month one, and set your week 1, week 2, week 3 and week 4 goals. What do I need to accomplish in these weeks.
Finally, you're ready for a "to-do" list. At the beginning of each week, or at the end of the previous one, write out your "to-do list and goals for that week. Estimate the time each task will take and set up your schedule for the week.
Now you have a plan!
You may be saying, "is all this detail necessary?" I'm saying, "ABSOLUTELY YES!" No one can get where they're going without a road map. You need this road map. Taking time to set up a detailed plan such as this will reap huge benefits. If it takes you 2 days or 2 weeks, just do it. You and your online business will be better for it.

How to Choose Office Equipment
Are you opening a new office? Or do you feel it is time to replace some old office equipment? The problem that people have when doing this is trying to choose the best equipment. There are certain aspects of your business that you need to look at when choosing your equipment.
What to look for in office printers
Office printers are very important if you need to print anything in your office. You want to have a printer that can cope with the volumes that you will need to print in a fast and efficient manner. If you do have to print a lot then you should look for high capacity printers. You will also want to have a printer that can print quickly as there is nothing worse than having to wait a long time for all your pages to print. Of course if the department does not have to print much a smaller printer is also an option. Network printers should also be looked at if you have many people in your office. You should also look into the price of cartridges and how many pages you can get from a cartridge. It is also best to have a printer that can print in both monochrome and colour for document headers.
What kind of computers should you get?
Technology is always advancing and you don't want to be left behind. However, you don't want to have to replace your computers too often either. The things to look at when deciding on computers are their speed, the memory and whether they will be able to connect to your network and work properly.
What about all in one devices?
The device that you should seriously consider is all in one devices. These devices will incorporate a printer, copier, scanner and often a fax machine. By getting one of these devices you will not only save space but also money as you only have to buy one device. The costs of cartridges will also be lowered as you only have to buy cartridges for one machine. It is best that your all in one device is able to connect to a network. As with all machines you have to see that the one you get covers all the need of your business.
Getting a shredder
Another piece of equipment that you may overlook is a shredder. If you are dealing with documents that have information about your business of any of your clients you need to dispose of them in a secure manner. For your office you will need to have a shredder that can cope with larger quantities than a personal one. Shedders will also shred in different ways so you should look into what kind of shredding you want done.
Office equipment can be a nightmare to choose. The best idea is to create a plan of what your business needs from the computer use to the amount that you have to print. Once you have this plan you will be able to find the equipment that can handle the correct capacity and amount of work.

The Like Dilemma and The Bubble of Me
That addictive like button appearing on almost every website is confining us in the "bubble of me." Pandora uses your likes to create the perfect radio station. Netflix uses your ratings to craft a list of movies perfect just for you. Facebook uses your likes for personalized ads. The list goes on. You can't even do a general search on Google anymore without information from your Google account being used to create a tailored list of results. Everything has become crafted for who you are at a single moment regardless of the fact that you and your preferences will change.
I am not anti-technology, in fact quite the contrary. I love Pandora, my iPhone, and most technological advancements just as much, if not more than the average individual. However, I question the direction my favorite Internet companies are steering us regarding how they use our preferences to determine what they offer us.
One of the Internet's greatest gifts is that it inspires exploration. In such a constant barrage of our preferences, we are losing this gift. Before preferences and likes, we were more likely to read things we didn't know we were interested in, only to find out we just happen to love design, or foreign films, or funny cat pictures. This was partially because sites did not specifically know what to offer us, so they offered everything and people explored. In a way sites such as Stumbleupon allow for this, but it is not the Internet giant that Facebook or Google are and it is within these ecosystems that the average individual spends most of their online time.
I began noticing the preferences dilemma with Pandora. Pandora presents itself as a place to explore music and use your like of one particular artist to connect you with similar artists. But I found that once I started clicking that wonderful thumbs up button, Pandora actually began to limit my music. When I play my Ray Charles station, only songs I previously liked play and that feeling of excitement I had when I first started using Pandora had been lost to my preferences.
A friend recently complained about Google ads on her G-Mail. She loves to ski and while she appreciates that Google advertises skiing related content, she wonders about the potential hobbies she is missing. What about a class, say metal casting, that she has never even considered or knew about, but if she were to see an ad about it, would click and take up a new hobby. She just needs that first level of engagement that currently lies outside her preferences.
In the moment an individual gazes at something new there is the potential for a mental tipping point. If the new thought peaks their interest just enough, they will likely seek more information. Coffee shops, local bookstores, and University bulletin boards were and are, places where pamphlets for random courses and get-togethers are posted. People read these and become interested in things that just barely peek their interest only to later find out they have a new hobby. The first level of engagement is opened to them. We must find a way to adequately translate that experience of randomness and curiosity to the web. Perhaps it can include some form of preference-based algorithms but the pendulum has swung too far towards keeping us confined. It could be as easy as an explore setting.
I am not against the general premise of the like button or websites catering to our interests. Most of the time these tools are beneficial. But the future is no longer about tailoring our needs and giving access to the things we already know we like. The future, the great start-up of tomorrow, lies in our interests to explore, to peak new interests, to find new hobbies that enrich our lives. The future is helping people discover what they don't even know they like.

The History and Legacy of Steve Jobs
Few people can ever claim to have changed the world. Famous people, in this age of 24 hour news channels, Twitter and the internet can come at a dime a dozen, actors, musicians, authors, politicians, activists, among many others that were successful in getting the attention of many people. Innovators and pioneers on the other hand are hard to come by. People who go against the odds and make a difference, those who leave legacies that advance their own field. And the legacy of Steve Jobs will surely endure, even after many of have gone.
Before we even measure how much the legacy of Steve Jobs has affected us, we must first look into the history of the man. The legacy of Steve Jobs after all becomes all the more impressive when you consider how he became one of the most famous men in the history of technology.
Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 to two unwed University of Wisconsin students and was then adopted at birth by Paul Reinhold, and Clara Jobs, Paul a machinist for a laser manufacturing company, and Clara an accountant for a high tech company in what would later be known as Silicon Valley. His adoptive mother taught him to read early, even before he went to school, and his adoptive father taught him in basic electronics, developing skills that, unknown to them at that time would contribute to the great legacy of Steve Jobs.
Steve frequented after school lectures at the Hewlett-Packard company during his days in Homestead High School in Cupertino California, it is here where he would meet Steve Wozniak during his tenure as a summer employee. Wozniak, along with Ronald Wayne would, in the future, join Jobs to co-found Apple Computer Co., the company that, more than anything else, embody the legacy of Steve Jobs.
Steve Jobs never attended college for long. Staying for only one semester, he later dropped out and basically lived the life of a transient for some time, and considering how far reaching the legacy of Steve Jobs eventually became, made his accomplishments all the more impressive.
After a stint in Atari, Steve Jobs would join Steve Wozniak after his invention of the Apple I computer, and along with Ronald Wayne and funding from Mark Markkula, would found the Apple Computer Co. in 1976, a flagship company where the legacy of Steve Jobs would be built upon. Originally created in the garage of Job's parents, the company would soon grow to establish the standards on how personal computers would become, and establish the legacy of Steve Jobs and his colleagues.
Steve Job's initial stay at Apple would not be smooth sailing. He resigned from the company in 1985 after disagreements between management policy caused rifts between him and John Sculley, then CEO of the company. This departure would not last however. After Job's resignation, he founded NeXT computers, and eventually bought The Graphics Group (now named Pixar) from Lucasfilms in 1986. In 1996 Apple bought NeXT computers for a sum of $429 million, returning Jobs to the company that he co-founded, and eventually becoming the CEO in 1997. With Steve Jobs back in Apple, his brand of management and his demand for aesthetically appealing products brought back profitability to the company's portfolio.
Revolutionizing the way we listen to music in the form of the mp3 player, and bringing smart phones and tablet pc's into the tech race, the legacy of Steve Jobs is hard to miss in our everyday life. His drive to create innovative products changed the way that we view mobile computing, and will probably affect what we expect of mobile media for years to come.

Find the Best Photocopier for Your Business Needs
Photocopiers are a necessary piece of office equipment for any business. No matter what you do there always comes a time when you need to copy something. Finding the best photocopier for your business is very important as you don't want to have to replace the machine once you realise that you need more.
Monochrome and colour photocopiers
The first thing you should look at is whether or not you need a colour photocopier. There are many companies who only have a monochrome copier and are happy with this. This is not an option for people who need to copy things in colour. Most people feel it is best to simply get a colour copier even if they do not often use the colour feature. While monochrome copiers are not able to do colour, colour copiers can be set to monochrome so you do not use the colour cartridges.
The capacity of the copier
The capacity of the copier is very important depending on the amount of work you expect the machine to do. If your company will be using the machine a lot then you should look at high capacity machines. These machines will be able to hold more blank paper so you do not have to add paper as often. They are generally more efficient with their cartridge use as well.
How many pages per minute do you need?
The number of pages the copier can process in a minute should be looked at. In general the more pages per minute the copier can process the better. The one problem is that machines that process faster are often more expensive. It is best to get a ball park figure of what you would like your copier to be capable of before you go and buy one.
Incorporating printing and copying
Printing and copying are two functions that can easily be combined. In fact there are many machines that do incorporate both of these along with faxing and scanning. These multi-function devices are actually the piece of equipment that most businesses purchase. The reason for this is the fact that they will only pay for one device and not have to pay for replacement parts for more than one device at any time.
Check the support you will get
When you buy a photocopier for your business you will want to make sure you have a warranty as well as support. Most manufacturers will offer this but you have to read the fine print. The length of the support and warranty needs to be looked at as well as what they will help you with. Will they send a technician out if the copier stops working? Will they only offer you basic help guides? Can you call them at any time? These are all things that you need to know about when it comes to support.
Finding the best photocopier for your business is very important. If you do not have a copier that covers all your business needs you will find yourself spending more money then you need to.

Top 5 Questions Asked When Starting A Business
Starting a business is not easy. Most business owners would tell you that. In addition, most business owners would tell you that owning your own business is very rewarding. It is of course, if it's a success. Before taking the leap, do yourself a favor and research everything - all aspects of a successful business.
Below are some common questions most people ask when thinking of starting a business, whether it's on-line or bricks and mortar.
The answers to all the questions are complicated. There is a lot involved. There are many rules and regulations governing certain professions. There is no one answer that fits all. What I've attempted to do here is give you some general information. Your best course of action is to consult an attorney or tax accountant. I am neither, and I cannot guarantee that my answers are the right ones for your situation.
1. Do I Need A License? Many people ask this question and the answer is yes and no. Some businesses need licenses. Others do not. Some states require certain licenses, some do not. The federal government sometimes requires licenses, but it depends on the business.
Think of realtors. Most everyone knows realtors need a license to sell real estate. Think of bankers. Again, bankers need a license, as most people are aware.
If you think about certain professions, you'll start to understand this reasoning. Most license programs are instituted because the government needs (or thinks they need) to regulate the business in some way. So, thinking about it in these terms, you can probably get an idea as to the requirements of the business you're thinking of starting.
However, there are exceptions to ALL these statements. The only way to know for sure is to consult an attorney or your state. Do your research. You'll find out a lot.
2. Which Entity Should I Choose? This question is not as simple as it may sound. Entities, such as sole proprietorships, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, LLC's, and more each have their own advantages and disadvantages, from a tax standpoint and well as bookkeeping and more.
Sole proprietorships are definitely the easiest to set up and run. They also have the least restrictions. However, they may not be your best choice for tax or other reasons.
Corporations are a good choice if you want to limit your liability. As most people are aware, when a corporation is sued, usually the personal assets of the owners are protected. This means you can shield your personal assets from corporate liability. However, not always. Most of the time, officers of a small business corporation will have to personally guarantee the debt.
LLC's are the better and easier choice if you're thinking of a corporation. However, not always. It depends on the nature of your business and how you intend to run it.
Partnerships, on the other hand, could be a good choice if you want to start your business with another person. However, each partner will be responsible for the others' debts and decisions. Do you want to be liable for your partner's bad decision? Do you know your partner and trust him/her?
Again, the issues are complicated. The best action is to talk with an attorney or tax accountant.
3. Do I Need A Business Plan? The answer to this question is again yes and no. Technically, you don't need a business plan to run a business. However, YOU WILL need one if you're going to apply for financing.
That being said, EVERYONE starting a business should have a business plan, whether you're seeking financing or not.
Successful businesses did not get that way by accident. A business plan will be your road map from the meager beginning to some point in the future. It will include your goals, marketing plans, sales and profit forecasts, and an analysis of your product. Most of all, having and BELIEVING a business plan will give you the confidence to more forward as you encounter problems and obstacles. After all, there is nothing better for motivation that knowing your goals and trying to reach them.
4. What Type Of Business Should I Start? This question cannot be answered by anyone except you. If you're thinking of starting a business, you probably have some ideas.
While I could go into the pros and cons of various businesses here, it would not be possible to cover everything you'll need to know. Search the web. You'll find out a lot.
My best advice can be summed up in 3 words: research, research, research. Did I say it enough? Research your product, the market for your product, how you'll attract customers, your projected sales and anything other relevant information from which to make decisions.
5. Do I Need A Lot Of Money? Again, the answer to this question depends on the business. To the one extreme, purchasing a franchise is VERY expensive, usually 5-6 figures. To the other extreme, an internet business can be started for very little money. In between there is a wide variety.
Of course, the more money involved, the more risk.
Many people think they can start an online business with no money or very little money because of information they've heard from the internet. Yes, an online business is very inexpensive in comparison to other types of businesses. However, money will be needed - for hosting, domain names, website creation, marketing, and more. How much money is determined by how much of the work you can do yourself versus hiring others. Again, no easy answer. Plan on needing some money.
Although there are many other questions and topics, I hope you've understood the basic 5 and will progress to seeing your first income as a business owner.

Learn How a "Wannabe" Can Develop His Own Online Internet Home Based Business
People who intend to make me money quickly can invest in an online internet home based company which provides limitless income potential. The goal is to refer as many people as possible to a structured website which specializes, for a fee, in helping a"wannabe" develop his own home based online internet business.
The idea is to get them to sign up free or for a small investment and then later upgrade their account to a more advanced level at a higher fee. To become an investor and start making money on the internet is not very difficult. You only need to search the internet and find yourself a well qualified company that has the requisite skills necessary to get the job done.
Once you find such a company, you register with them. Usually this can be done either inexpensively or actually for free. Their incentive is for you to upgrade to an advanced level for a higher fee. You will be forwarded to the main page which includes all the marketing information and guide to reap the benefits of a better life.. Is there anyone who does not want a better life? Maybe not just for you, but certainly a better life for those you love.
If the "wannabe" elects to sign up for free, he can still earn good money without having to upgrade to a more advanced level However, the upgrades are recommended to maximize income potential and to learn the techniques for effective marketing. on your own.
You can later choose a more advanced level account that will only be activated when the individual member does so independently.
Watch out for the franchise seller who will pressure you to upgrade. You should always be in charge of making your own decisions. Bad things happen when you lose control. The upgrades are intended to be used as helpful tools to bring in more money. Quickly as possible you arrange your own schedule and you work at your speed of accomplishment. Sponsorship is the main method to make me money so having the proper information and tools will maximize income.
An autoresponder will also be very helpful so that all interested parties are answered quickly. There are two or three excellent autoresponders available and it is you who picks which you want to use. Members then do not miss any opportunity to earn using these upgrades
. Members do not need to upgrade everything to successfully make me money. They only have to promote and market their franchise and then earn money when ever a new person gets a free membership and upgrades. Results will significantly improve depending on how marketing approaches and tools are used. Results improve with practice. Take time to study and learn the marketing skills and plan to earn thousands of dollars. And once you have made your decision, take action.

Working From Home - Why Working Flexible Hours Can Be Brilliant News for Parents
Trying to find a job that fits around your children's needs can be one of the hardest things about being a parent. Take the traditional working hours of nine to five (although, seriously, how many of us still work strictly nine to five? Try eight to six and then some...). Whatever business hours you work, they don't tend to mesh well when it comes to traditional school and nursery hours.
Add in an hour or more commute at the beginning and end of the day and you're looking at 'wrap-around' childcare - literally paying someone to look after your child from 7.30am to 7pm at night - or longer. Considering most small children go to bed between 7.30pm and 8.30pm at night, what time are you going to spend with your child during the week? Let alone trying to make this 'quality' time? Even if your children are older and have later bedtimes, school days still finish at around 3pm. Who's going to look after your child until you get home at 6pm and how much is that going to cost you?
In the UK, parents of children under six are able to request flexible working hours from their employers, which can work out well if you have a sympathetic boss and work for a company who appreciates the importance of a decent work/life balance. If you don't, you may find your request remains just that - a request - which is then rejected, and you're back to square one.
So running a business where you can set your own hours can be an absolute godsend. Of course, not every business is going to allow you to simply work when you want to - with a lot of service based businesses, you're going to be working 'normal' business hours - but when the business is your own, you'll probably find a degree of flexibility that just isn't going to be available to you as an employee. With other business models, such as online businesses and those founded on a more passive income based model, you should be able to pretty much work the hours that you want, whether that's at 12 midnight or 6.30am in the morning.
You may find that a lot of business tasks can either be automated or can be undertaken when the children are either asleep or otherwise occupied. Running a business from home also cuts out commuting time and can be a godsend when you have a sick child who can't attend school or nursery, but can't be left unattended.
Don't forget that working from home might be great for working flexible hours, but you also need to know when to switch off. Try not to let your business overrun the house, both in terms of physical and emotional space.
